AND YOU CAN QUOTE ME ON THAT!

Year 11 Public Service students were asked what they thought of their time at The college…

“When I start college full time, I am not going to be scared or nervous as I know my way around and can recognise some people” Luke Barnes.

“I have now realised what I want to do when I am older” Dan Taylor.

“I have gained in confidence meeting new people and trying new things” John Turner.

“It gives me a good insight to what career I would like to do, and a good understanding of what I have to do to fulfil this career” Josh Page.

“It gives me more confidence in myself. Also, The College is a lot of fun” Josh Turrel.

“I find it easier to learn at college than at school as I find the atmosphere more relaxed” Taylor Flynn.

Public Services

The public services students recently had the opportunity to visit St Thomas Square, Newport to talk to members of the British Army.

The students were able to find out about the various roles and jobs available within the Army and talk directly to the staff. They also had the chance to look at the different weapons used in the Army and learned all about them and when they might be used.

Students have also recently carried out a map and compass exercise on Mottistone Down. They learned all about orientating maps, taking bearings and looking after equipment. They also had an opportunity to look at the history of the down on their visit.

Basic Introduction to Construction

Year 10 construction students have done really well so far this year and produced some excellent work; one of the activities they really enjoyed was forming and manipulating a variety of cables into different shapes, bends and even their initials! The students’ hand to eye coordination proved to be very good during this task.
